healthyD Announces Survey Result of Hong Kong People’s Breakfast Habit

[Hong Kong — 2 August 2017]
healthyD has carried out a survey about breakfast habit of Hong Kong people. A total of 926 respondents were interviewed online and 95% of them said that they have the habit of eating breakfast. Mr. Cheung Chi-leung, a Registered Dietitian pointed out that this group of people who have the habit of eating breakfast does not mean they are having a healthy habit, as 84% among them mentioned they will choose western food for breakfast such as bread or cake, and 55% of them will choose Chinese food such as noodle soup or steamed buns. Although these kinds of food can provide calories and energy, vitamin C and dietary fiber or other nutrition value is relatively low. Cheung recommended adding 1 portion of fruit during breakfast to maintain a balanced diet.
